{"id":957,"date":"2009-11-05T15:43:10","date_gmt":"2009-11-05T15:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/voteforjoe.com\/wheresjoe\/?p=395"},"modified":"2009-11-05T15:43:10","modified_gmt":"2009-11-05T15:43:10","slug":"i-know-how-to-live-without-electricity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/voteforjoeblog.com\/?p=957","title":{"rendered":"I know how to live without electricity&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The other day I listened to part of a talk to some Montessori students who were on a field trip to the Peter Claver Catholic Worker Houses in South Bend, Indiana. \u00a0 The Catholic Worker Houses here are a cluster of homes that house the homeless. \u00a0 One of the handouts to the students this day was titled: \u00a0 <strong>Could You Survive in Poverty?<\/strong> \u00a0 It noted that income levels have a societal insular effect. \u00a0 What&#8217;s more, the writing indicated that people not in the poverty socio-economic strata often can&#8217;t relate to some of the things it takes to live in poverty. \u00a0 Some of those components include: \u00a0 I can get by without a car. \u00a0 I know where the free medical clinics are. \u00a0 I know how to fight and defend myself physically. \u00a0 I know which grocery store garbage bins can be accessed for thrown-away food.
