While in Ashland, Kentucky, we talked with Liz Trabandt, who is in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame<\/strong>. \u00a0 She coached girls basketball at nearby Russell High School. \u00a0 A relatively small school, the girls basketball team twice made it to the Kentucky State Finals. \u00a0 Ms. Trabandt said it was, to a degree, like the Hoosiers<\/strong><\/em> story. \u00a0 She gave our Sarah, who has played on a Rec. Center team back in Cleveland, some pointers. \u00a0 The one she stressed most was “practice, practice, practice.”<\/em> \u00a0 …We \u00a0then traveled further east to Huntington, West Virginia, where \u00a0I talked with Joshua Sowards who is a Minister to Youth and Families at First Baptist Church in nearby Kenova, West Virginia (The pastor is \u00a0Steve Willis). \u00a0 Sowards told me they are in the process of planting a church at Marshall College in Huntington. \u00a0 He said there is \u00a0“no surprise” that many people are spiritually lost in our \u00a0Post Modern culture. \u00a0 What’s more, he said even though \u00a0much of modern philosophy is \u00a0antithetical \u00a0to the Gospel message, the biggest reason why people aren’t looking \u00a0for God is because there’s a “lack of need.” \u00a0 That is, \u00a0people are often comfortable enough in their lifestyles, etc., that they don’t feel much of \u00a0a need to rely on God. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
