{"id":929,"date":"2009-07-09T19:13:28","date_gmt":"2009-07-09T19:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/voteforjoe.com\/wheresjoe\/?p=367"},"modified":"2009-07-09T19:13:28","modified_gmt":"2009-07-09T19:13:28","slug":"367","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/voteforjoeblog.com\/?p=929","title":{"rendered":"4th of July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We traveled through the rolling hills of northern Kentucky, stopping first in Flemingsburg (pop. 3,100). \u00a0 On fourth of July, we talked at length with John Dunn and Dwayne Roller, who \u00a0were both \u00a0in the Armed Services. \u00a0 Mr. Roller received a Purple Heart during \u00a0the Korean Conflict. \u00a0 And \u00a0Mr. Dunn was in Thialand servicing U.S. bombers flying into Vietnam. \u00a0 (He vividly remembers the intense bombing of Cambodia just before the war ended.) \u00a0 And while not everyone is on the same page when it comes to, say, \u00a0the Iraq War, the Vietnam War &#8212; now deceased Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, who was one of the &#8216;architects&#8217; of the Vietnam War, later expressed misgivings about it &#8211;; \u00a0we can all be on the same page in regard to recognizing the courage (and just plain <em>guts<\/em>) those &#8216;on the ground&#8217; demonstrate during a time of war&#8230; \u00a0 Both Mr. Dunn and Mr. Roller are also extremely active Christians who participate in small covenant communities.
