Buckeye Backroad Tour cont.:<\/strong> \u00a0 We drove into Canton, Ohio, yesterday where we met with supporter Dustin White. \u00a0 Dustin and our family stumped downtown, passing out literature and talking to people. \u00a0 Dustin did a lot of talking, but not just about the campaign. \u00a0 Dustin \u00a0talked to a \u00a0good number of \u00a0street people who he also regularly sees at a drop-in center for the poor. \u00a0 A center he regularly volunteers at. \u00a0 Dustin treated each with a tremendous<\/em> \u00a0 amount of human dignity, including giving several people financial donations… \u00a0 Dustin and his wife Jamie also hosted a talk for us later that night at their place. \u00a0 A group of students from nearby Malone College attended. \u00a0 At one point in the talk, I read an excerpt from a book I wrote about our run in Campaign 2000. \u00a0 Titled Back Road to the White House<\/strong><\/em>, the excerpt reads: \u00a0 I took our Sarah [then 3 and a half years old] on a walk through part of downtown Savannah, Georgia, at sunset tonight. \u00a0 A homeless man was sleeping on the steps of the U.S. Customs Building on Bay Street. \u00a0 Sarah was perplexed. \u00a0 I had to tell her the man was homeless. \u00a0 Then she was shocked. \u00a0 “We gotta help him Daddy! \u00a0 We gotta find him a home!”<\/em> \u00a0 She implored… How do we solve the homeless problem in America? \u00a0 Everyone become three and a half years old again. \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> \u00a0 After reading this to the group and then explaining about our time with Dustin and the street people in the afternoon, I concluded by saying: \u00a0 “Apparently Dustin has found the secret to becoming three and a half years old again.” \u00a0 \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> \u00a0 We have just put up a new podcast feature<\/a> on the site…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
