I gave a talk \u00a0to a high school “Justice Group” in Cleveland this week. \u00a0 It is part of the Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice<\/em> (www.cspj.net<\/a>) network here. \u00a0 I learned the group has sponsored such events as “Dance for Darfur,” which raised some $7,000 for Darfur, explained CSPJ coordinator Augie Pacetti. \u00a0 These high school students have also done events to promote “Fair Trade” and \u00a0help the “Invisible Children” of \u00a0Uganda. \u00a0 They help with tutoring at a neighborhood “Arrupe House” program. \u00a0 They do street outreach to the inner city poor… \u00a0When senior Nick Drosos was asked why he’s involved, he simply replied: \u00a0 “I just think it’s right.” \u00a0 Enough said. \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> \u00a0 Our Education platform calls for a paradigm shift, if you will. \u00a0 That is, we would like to see one-third of school curriculum be “Service Learning” projects \u00a0— like the ones this Cleveland “Justice Group” is involved with –out in the local community, and in the world at large.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
