{"id":1772,"date":"2018-08-27T15:04:21","date_gmt":"2018-08-27T15:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/voteforjoeblog.com\/?p=1772"},"modified":"2018-08-27T15:04:21","modified_gmt":"2018-08-27T15:04:21","slug":"greyhound-dogs-playing-local-hoops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/voteforjoeblog.com\/?p=1772","title":{"rendered":"Greyhound dogs; playing local hoops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Catching up on the last month&#8230;<\/strong> \u00a0I did a number of house\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voteforjoe.com\/making-a-living\">painting jobs<\/a> in Bluffton, while continuing to hone my &#8220;populist image.&#8221; \u00a0One of the homes had two greyhound dogs. \u00a0The fastest dogs, I learned, on the planet! \u00a0(They can get up to 43 mph.) During an interview for the local newspaper, their owner, Debra Hankish, told me that many of these dogs are kept in cages for 23 hours a day, and just let out to race. \u00a0What&#8217;s more, once their racing career ends, in, say, Arizona, some of the greyhounds are taken out to the desert and shot. \u00a0Ms. Hankish joined a &#8220;Greyhound Rescue Group&#8221; and adopted the two dogs that are now in Bluffton. \u00a0They are, in many ways, &#8220;gentle giants,&#8221; said Ms. Hankish. \u00a0So much so, she is having one trained to be a &#8220;therapy dog&#8221; that will go into the local nursing homes, and such. \u00a0<strong>Note:<\/strong> \u00a0During the summer at noon on M\/W\/F, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voteforjoe.com\/joes-sports-hobbies\">I played hoops<\/a> at the local Rec.
