Some thoughts in the aftermath of the movie theatre shooting in Aurora, Colorado, early this morning…\u00a0 It happened at a Batman movie titled: Dark Knight Rises<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 The real<\/em> shooting erupted during a shooting scene in the movie.\u00a0 As of late this morning, 12 people had been killed, and 50 injured.\u00a0 Among the victims\u00a0were some youth (ages 9, 11, 13…).\u00a0 President Obama’s response, in part, was: “…confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family.”\u00a0 Acually in my estimation, the moments of ‘darkness’ have been coming for quite some time.\u00a0 These movies have been becoming more violent, and more violent, and yet even more<\/em> violent…\u00a0 During a radio show\u00a0on a campaign swing through northern\u00a0California several years ago, I said we as a general viewing population have become addicted to the violence.\u00a0 And just like an alcoholic, the tolerance for more and more keeps increasing.\u00a0 Consequently, we become more and more conditioned by the violence, with more and more people these days now acting it out.\u00a0 (All you have to do is read the newspapers, daily.)\u00a0 And if that isn’t bad enough, we are now regularly allowing youth to be exposed to it — without hardly a spiritual thought.\u00a0 I’m also a former addictions counselor and know that when someone(s) is addicted they are also generally in denial\u00a0and rationalize what they do.\u00a0 This often works until someone, well, hits bottom.\u00a0 You gotta wonder what the bottom is going to be on this violence thing, huh?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
