In our travels, we recently came across a Korean War veteran.\u00a0 He talked at length about his war expreiences there and was concerned about the mounting tension there now as well.\u00a0 It’s a complex situation geo-politcally.\u00a0 While doing some research, I learned that the arbitrary drafting of the “North Limit Line” gave the best fishing grounds in the Yellow Sea to South Korea, and that has been an ongoing point of contention.\u00a0 It’s also been a flashpoint.\u00a0 Two years ago, North Korea fired a deadly salvo into Yeonpyeong Island over the disputed boundary.\u00a0 However…\u00a0 In 1950, the U.N. Security Council designated the U.S. as the executive agent over establishment of where the line would be placed.\u00a0 In an op\/ed piece for the New York Times<\/em>, Selig Harrison proposes the U.S.\u00a0help\u00a0Seol and Pyongyang come to an equitable ‘meeting of the minds’ about where to re-establish the boundary line in the Yellow Sea.\u00a0 This makes sense.\u00a0 Common sense.\u00a0 Note:<\/strong>\u00a0 The farmers in North Korea are currently experiencing an extreme drought and I believe we would do well to help them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
