Busy week…\u00a0 A story about the campaign ran in the Bluffton News<\/em> <\/strong>(circ. 2,000) yesterday.\u00a0 Well if you don’t carry Bluffton, you’re not going to carry the country.\u00a0 The story noted that I was being billed as “average Joe the painter”<\/strong> who lives on, of all streets, Main Street (literally).\u00a0 “It doesn’t get much more populist than that,”<\/em> <\/strong>was my quote.\u00a0 Oh, and “Joe the Plumber”<\/strong> just won his Republican Primary bid yesterday — so there’s hope for us populist kinda guys…\u00a0 With the Super Tuesday Primary dust settling yesterday, I went to Ottawa, Ohio, to campaign.\u00a0 While passing out campaign cards downtown there, a woman approached and asked if I was on the same page as Ron Paul.\u00a0 I said I was when it came to simplifying government and getting back to the basics of the Constitution.\u00a0 I mean, common sense says the federal government has gotten way too complex.\u00a0 For instance, the recent Financial Reform Bill<\/strong> of 2010 was: 907 pages long.\u00a0 The whole Social Security Act<\/strong> of 1935 was: 28 pages long.\u00a0 C’mmon<\/em>…\u00a0 Another thing that’s getting out of hand?\u00a0 Pets in America.\u00a0 While in Ottawa, I saw a “Pampered Pets” van go by.\u00a0 This week the AP carried a story explaining in 2011 we passed the\u00a0$50 billion (that’s b<\/span>, as in baboon) mark for: pet care.\u00a0 I’m sorry, but a good deal of countries in the world don’t have a GDP that high for a year…\u00a0 Note:\u00a0<\/strong> Downtown Ottawa also has a “Lord’s Park.”\u00a0 There is a stone cross in the middle that says this is “…dedicated to Jesus who died for our sins.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/em> Near the front of the park is a historic marker that explains that at one time the Tawa Indians inhabited the land here.\u00a0 In 1833 they were forceably removed to a Reservation in Kansas and the land was auctioned off to white settlers.\u00a0 The village was then called: “Ottawa.” I couldn’t help but think this was one of those ‘sins’ Jesus died for — but the marker doesn’t exactly say that.\u00a0 Maybe it should.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
