Last week we came up through Alabama on I-65. \u00a0 Without looking to a fashion consultant — or even a political consultant for that matter — \u00a0I decided to where an Auburn University shirt through the first half of the state. \u00a0 (Auburn is in Alabama and won the NCAA Championship in football last year, if you recall.) \u00a0 At a service sation on I-65, just south of Birmingham, I passed on a campaign card to, that’s right, another guy wearing an Auburn shirt. \u00a0 He smiled, pointed to my shirt and said: \u00a0 “You’re not average!” \u00a0 <\/em>After the ‘Auburn coup,’ I switched to a University of Alabama shirt in Clanton, AL. \u00a0 This didn’t seem to go as well. \u00a0 In a Wal Mart parking lot there, I passed on a campaign card to a man who immediately gave it back to me. \u00a0 He said he doesn’t vote, except “…just for the Guy up there,” he continued, pointing toward Heaven. \u00a0 “But Jesus isn’t running,” I said. \u00a0 “He doesn’t have to, He’s already King,” the man smiled. \u00a0 He had me there. \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> \u00a0 Late this evening, we stopped in Cullman, Alabama. \u00a0 A small town about 40 miles north of Birmingham, it was hit by the same tornado that hit Tuskaloosa. \u00a0 The destruction was absolutely phenomenal. \u00a0 More on this later…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
