Yesterday we were in Glasgow, Kentucky, and attended part of a Memorial Day Service<\/strong> at the town cemetery. \u00a0 Among those in attendance, was a man in his 50s who was dressed in a World War II khaki uniform standing by a 1944 Army jeep he was restoring. \u00a0 His father \u00a0had been a soldier in \u00a0World War II. \u00a0 The son had placed an old, \u00a0framed-picture of his father in uniform \u00a0on the front seat, and he was meticulously restoring the jeep to help keep alive his father’s legacy, and the legacy of all World War II veterans. \u00a0 A sign next to the jeep read: \u00a0 Proud Son of a World War II Veteran<\/em><\/strong>… \u00a0 And as this man was trying to keep \u00a0alive the legacy of those who fought in World War II, local resident Eugenia Morrison was trying to keep alive the legacy of a local man who fought in the Revolutionary War, including at the famous Battle of Valley Forge<\/strong>. \u00a0 Several years ago, Ms. Morrison came across a small, old cemetery in the middle of a farmer’s field in the nearby small town of Hiseville. \u00a0 There were a lot of weeds and crumbling headstones. \u00a0 Through a geneological study, Ms. Morrison learned one of the men buried there, William Peers, was indeed a Revolutionary War veteran. \u00a0 Ms. Morrison now pays $75 a month for upkeep at the small cemetery and she goes there herself regularly to bring flowers and do other kinds of maintainance. \u00a0 Ms. Morrison \u00a0told the local newspaper that she regards herself as “patriotic” and this is her way of honoring those who fought for freedom at the beginning of the country. \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> \u00a0 T-shirt sighting in Glasgow, KY. \u00a0 On the front of the t-shirt were two tablets with the 10 Commandments. \u00a0 Below this, it read: \u00a0 “Take two tablets and call me in the morning.” \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
