In Warren, Ohio, yesterday, we went to the streets to stand in solidarity with a group of people who formed a part \u00a0of the nationwide Life Chain<\/strong> abortion protest. \u00a0 (Earlier in the day, I had given a pro-life talk at Holy Rosary Church in Vienna, Ohio. \u00a0 During the talk, I said it was imperative for pro-life people to go to the streets like this day in and day out in order to create a climate similar to what was created in the South to end Segregation.) \u00a0 Toward the end of the Life Chain event, I passed out campaign cards to some of those protesting. \u00a0 Some supporters of Ohio Republican Rob Portman, who is running for U.S. Senate, \u00a0were passing out campaign literature as well. \u00a0 The woman who gave me the literature, said: \u00a0 “We have<\/em> \u00a0 to take our country back.” \u00a0 I asked her exactly<\/em> \u00a0 what that meant? \u00a0 She said, for instance, that there should be less taxes overall, and less taxes going to government social service safety net programs. \u00a0 It is, after all, the church’s responsibility to take care of the poor, she said. \u00a0 I responded that that, currently, would be \u00a0kind of hard to trust — \u00a0considering figures indicate Christians, for instance, currently \u00a0average tithing only 3%<\/em> \u00a0 of their income. \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> \u00a0 We have just moved across the border into Pennsylvania. \u00a0 An AP<\/em> \u00a0 report out of Harrisburg PA noted that Pennsylvania is one of the “main sources” of guns used in crimes in other states. \u00a0 I also just read in Time Magazine<\/em> that \u00a0some 100,000 people are now killed, or injured, by guns in the U.S. every year<\/em>. \u00a0 I mean, we lost some 5,000 American soldiers in Iraq over five years<\/em>. \u00a0 \u00a0 Common sense would indicate America has turned into this major war zone, but we’re in tremendous denial about it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
