We’re still in Cleveland for a pit stop. \u00a0 Tonight I took our kids up to play some football \u00a0in a league at a neighborhood Rec. Center. \u00a0 When we arrived, there were four police cars and an ambulance in front of the Center. \u00a0 A boy in his teens had been shot in the leg (apparently during a drug related incident) and then ran to the Rec. Center for protection. \u00a0 He collapsed on the gym floor, blood everywhere. \u00a0 He was eventually taken to the hospital… The kids down here live with this, day in and day out. \u00a0 Guns, knives, drugs, poverty… It’s a veritable war zone. \u00a0 For many here it’s not about excelling (in sports, in school…). \u00a0 It’s about surviving. \u00a0 This has to stop. \u00a0 And as president I’d do everything I could to stop it… \u00a0 After things calmed down, the football game was played. \u00a0 Our son Joseph played quarterback a bit and completed a couple passes. \u00a0 Our daughter Sarah caught a 25 yard pass. \u00a0 And our son Jonathan, 7, lost a front tooth (it was a baby tooth) tackling a kid on the opening kick off. \u00a0 He’s a linebacker in the making. \u00a0 Note:<\/strong> Today the NY Times<\/em> \u00a0 carried an article that, in part, said \u00a0Republican Senator Mitch McConnel has introduced the Tax Hike Prevention Act<\/strong>, which, as it’s name implies, ensures that nobody gets an income tax hike. \u00a0 Ok, common sense on this one: \u00a0 Our national debt is approaching a staggering $13 trillion. \u00a0 Without increased tax hikes and\/or major cuts in government spending — we’re not going to balance the budget. \u00a0 That simple.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
