We have launched our Roaming Wyoming Tour<\/em>. \u00a0 (And yes, we’re \u00a0continuing to come up with \u00a0this all without any professional consultants.) \u00a0 Our \u00a0first stop was Cheyenne, where we took in a rodeo at the town’s 114th annual Frontier Days… \u00a0 After the rodeo, we stopped to view the Churck Wagon displays. \u00a0 Susan Patrick of Watertown, South Dakota, was cooking near her Peter Schuttler Wagon<\/em> \u00a0 (circa 1849). \u00a0 She told me there was actually an American Chuck Wagon Association, with collectors finding the wagons at auctions, antique shows, out in the fields… \u00a0 Once fixed up, the wagons \u00a0can range in cost from $12,000 to, well, whatever. \u00a0 Mrs. Patrick is an elementary school principal and said she often takes \u00a0her and her husband’s \u00a0chuck wagon into schools to teach children about them, in hopes of helping keep American heritage alive… \u00a0 And speaking of American heritage, I then took in a Frontier Days parade of old horse drawn carriages, and stuff. \u00a0 There was a horse drawn stage coach, dairy cart, ice cart, U.S. mail cart, even a funeral home cart… \u00a0 Because the parade vehicles were so slow, I was able to pass out average Joe campaign cards to most of the people in the carts. \u00a0 Meanwhile, my wife Liz took advantage of a long corn dog concession line at Frontier Days to pass out more cards. \u00a0 She then took the kids to the chuck wagon display where they got a whole lot of free samples (beans, biscuits, buffalo meat…) \u00a0 Have I mentioned it’s a low budget campaign? \u00a0 Note: \u00a0 I just saw one of the best<\/em> \u00a0 book titles: \u00a0 If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat.<\/em> \u00a0 by John Ortbery<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
